Line Draw

Captain Tathius This
is a pre-color drawing used in color study. Capt. Tathius
barks out comments and orders from "the chair." |

Tactical Brief snippet from a dogfight sequence. |
Sketch

Sketch One of many sketches. One of my aims is to
somehow carry over the gestural quality of a sketch into the final
work. There is something raw, fresh, and exciting about
sketches that many times gets lost by the time you get to the final
piece. |

Lights A snippet from one of the "lost" episodes. |

Escape A quick sketch as part of a storyboard used to
capture the original "vision" or idea. |

Disappointed An inked sketch with much more detail.
This was one of the defining moments in the future and success of my
work. |
Galen

Galen These are a couple
pictures of one of the secondary characters. This is one of
the roughnecks of the series. One of the details I tried to
pay attention to was the clothing and fashions of the characters. |
Acrylic

Slayer
From the "Fearful" book, another of the "Lost" episodes. |

Discourse
Another set from the "Fearful" book. This is one of my first
times working with "Saurs." |

Bren
This picture is a study in alternative colors. Most of my work
uses colors that are more realistic. |

Tath
Another picture in the color study. One of the nice things
with alternative colors is it seems to add more drama. The
thing I didn't like was that it departed from the freshness of
gestural figures. Later work integrates both styles. |

System 1
Many of my works include raised or matted components within
the picture itself. |

System 2
The background for establishing shots are done first before other
components are added in. |

At the Lab
This picture features an amphibious creature. |
Pencils

Youngsters
The beginning episode starts out with some of the main characters as
children. This is an early rendition of the characters used
for one of the other stories. |

Chaos!
A with most artists, I use my work to jump up on "the soap box" and
express impassioned issues. |
